The #5 Mohawk Valley Hawks Women's Soccer team earned a 3-0 victory over the visiting #4 Herkimer Generals on Wednesday night.  The Hawks controlled the tempo of the game from the opening kickoff until the final whistle.  In the 20th minute, Jenna Thompson got her big game started when she fed a ball to Macy Vitale at the top of the box and Vitale put the ball into the upper right hand corner to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead on what would ultimately be the game winning goal.  Later on in the half, Thompson would add a goal of her own as she carried the ball down into the corner, then took a no angle shot from the lower right side into the upper left hand corner over Herkimer goalkeeper Kara Steacy's head to make the score 2-0 heading into the half.  Both teams had chances in the 2nd half to get that next goal, but it wasn't until the 70th minute that the next goal would be scored.  Jenna Thompson again to fire a no angle shot into the upper portion of the goal to extend the Hawks lead to 3-0 which would end up being the final score.  Mohawk Valley outshot Herkimer 34-9 including hold a 21-3 edge in shots on goal.  Herkimer goalkeeper Kara Steacy would end the game with 18 saves, and Mohawk Valley goalkeeper Bobbie Lee-Hall would stop all three shots that she faced to earn her 10th win of the season and also collect her 8th shutout as well.

The Hawks are averaging 7.6 goals per game, and outscoring their opponents 76-2 this season on their way to their 10-0 record.  The Hawks will return to action this Saturday as they travel to Jefferson CC for a 1:00pm kickoff.
