Former MVCC Hawk Baseball and Basketball player Patrick Corbin was the winning pitcher in game 7 of the World Series for the Washington Nationals. The Cicero North Syracuse graduate played for the Hawks Basketball and Baseball Teams in 2007-08. Corbin was the second leading scorer for the Hawks on the hardwood and as the ace of the MVCC pitching staff he struck out 56 batters in 45 innings pitched with a 1.87 earned run average. In the World Series finale Corbin pitched 3 innings of scoreless relief with 3 strikeouts in the Nationals 6-2 Series clinching victory over the Houston Astros.
