#5 Hawks advance to NJCAA Region III District B Championship game

The #5 Mohawk Valley Community College Men's Soccer team beat SUNY Broome by a score of 2-1 on Thursday evening. SUNY Broome first got on the board when they served a free kick into the box that was misheaded by MVCC and Nazar Fedorchuk headed home the opportunity. MVCC would head into halftime down 1-0 while holding a 15-2 advantage in shots with a 4-1 advantage on goal. Hawks also lead 6-0 in corner kicks. The second half kicked off and it only took 8 minutes for Cheik Abdoullah Niasse to finish home a cross from Ousman Jallow to tie the game up 1-1. Just ten minutes later, Erick Ramos would fire home a shot from 30 yards out to put the Hawks up 2-1. Tucker Garrett finished the game with 1 key save in the 80th minute for the Hawks while his counter-part Adam Burns would finish the game with 6 saves. The Hawks outshot Broome 25-3 while holding a 8-2 advantage on net. They also held a 17-1 corner kick advantage.  

The #5 Hawks advance to the NJCAA Region III District B Championship game on Sunday where they will take on #7 nationally ranked Genesee Community College. The match will be lived streamed: https://www.genesee.edu/cms/home/event-streaming/streaming-channel-2/ . The game is slated for a 12:00PM kickoff. The winning team will punch their ticket to Nationals where the final 8 teams will battle it out to be crowned NJCAA National Champions.
