The Mohawk Valley Women's basketball team got their first win of the season last Wednesday with a 77-70 victory at Jefferson CC.  Lyrik' Jackson took control for the Hawks from the opening whistle as she finished the game with 37 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.  The Hawks opened up a 24-11 lead after the first quarter, but Jefferson would not go quietly battling back to a one point game half way through the 4th quarter, but Mohawk Valley hit their free throws down the stretch to seal the win for the team's first victory of the season.

The Hawks then hit the road for a weekend double header.  The team played early Saturday afternoon and had a bit of a slow start.  The score was tied 43-43 at halftime.  The Hawks picked it up on defense in the second half and outscored Finger Lakes 49-23 in the second half en route to a 92-66 win.  Jasmine Michaux came off the bench and scored 36 points on 17-25 shooting from the field, while also grabbing 12 rebounds.  Lyrik' Jackson also had a solid scoring effort with 27 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.  Olivia Wakins was also a double-digit scorer adding 10 points.

The Women's team rounded out the weekend with a 73-59 victory over Corning CC. Mohawk Valley had a balanced scoring attack with Lyrik' Jackson leading the way with 21 points, seven assists, and five rebounds.  Jasmine Michaux continued her double-double streak with 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Jane Fahy had a solid game finishing with a career high 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Mohawk Valley is now 3-1 on the season and the team has a pair of home games this week, first against SUNY Adirondack this Wednesday at 5:00 pm and an early tip-off on Saturday at 1:00pm against visiting Tompkins-Cortland CC.
