The #4 ranked Mohawk Valley Men's Basketball team extended their winning streak to eight games with an 81-74 victory over the visiting Onondaga CC Lazers on Thursday night to improve their record to 11-1 on the season.  The Hawks shot the ball very well in the first half with the sophomore trio of Jordanny Cuevas-Marte, Justin Steed, and Jonathan Dean combining for eight three-point baskets in the half.  Cuevas-Marte and Steed each had three and Dean had the other two.  All three players would finish the game strong in the second half with Dean finishing the game with 15 points, Steed with 17, and Cuevas-Marte with a game-high 28 points.  The Hawks got another big game from the big man Jason Primus.  Primus finished the game with nine points and an incredible 19 rebounds.  The Lazers had the size advantage over the Hawks, but Primus was able to muscle away 19 rebounds from them down low to continue his phenomenal play.

Onondaga had a balanced scoring effort as Jahki Lucas and Latyce Faison each had 17 points and Ben Russ contributed 14 of his own.  The loss drops Onondaga to 10-3 on the season and they will face Bryant and Stratton this weekend before the semester break.  The Hawks also have one game left before the break as they will travel to Cayuga CC on Saturday December 14th for a 3:00pm game.  Cayuga CC will enter the contest with a record of 4-5, and are coming off a hard fought victory over Fulton-Montgomery CC earlier this week.
