Softball Advances to Championship

Hawks Softball advances to Region III Championship:

Mohawk Valley sweeps Monroe Community College in the sub-regional matchup that took place on Sunday May 9th. In game one, the Hawks won 9-3 with the help of Trinity Critelli (Frankfort, NY) on the mound. Critelli had another stellar performance for the Hawks pitching a 4-hitter and fanning 16 batters which helped to achieve her 100th career strikeout. The bats for the Hawks remain hot with Maddelyn Hoehn (Oriskany, NY) going 2 for 2 at the plate, 1 RBI, and scoring 2 runs. Kimmi Birmingham of Camden, NY also kept her streak going with a 2 for 3 showing at the plate. Earning 1 walk, 1 RBI and 1 run.

 

In Game two, the Hawks defeated Monroe 11-2 in 6 innings. The bats remained alive with another stellar performance from Sophomore Kimmi Birmingham. She went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 RBI's, 1 run and 1 walk. Joy Stevens remained solid on the mound for the Hawks and shut down Monroe after they scored their only 2 runs early in the 1st inning. Stevens also got the job done at the plate going 2 for 3 and scoring 2 runs. Eliza Marusic had a double on the day and got 4 RBI's. Kyleigh Gage and Abrianna Wadley both had a stolen base to get in scoring position. 

 

The Hawks are scheduled to face Corning Community College in the Region III Championship on Friday May 14th at 2 and 4pm at CCC.
