This past week the MVCC Track & Field team traveled to Texas to compete in the NJCAA Division I National Championship meet.  With the ongoing pandemic, the NJCAA Division III Track and Field Championship was cancelled, but the Hawks had four athletes qualify with scores that allowed them to compete in the Division I Championship.

On our Women's side, we saw Lexi Phillips place 4th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:11.21.  On the Men's side Mike Bennett took home the win in the 10k with a season best of 32:42.10. Andy Hadasz continued the team's successful week whe, he placed 1st in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.68, while also placing 3rd in the 200 meter dash with a season best of 22.57.  Jason Januario raked in points all week on the field side where he won the hammer throw with a season best of 37.61. Januario also placed 2nd in both the shot put (11.52) and discus (37.68) respectively.

With the three male athletes competing in Texas; The men's team walked away with 3 individual Division III Nationals Champions and 5 All-Americans! Thank you to the MVCC faculty and staff for helping make this trip a reality.  We did our best to represent MVCC Athletics at a high level which would not have been possible without your hardwork and sacrifices throughout this challenging Covid season.
