Track & Field Team nets 8 All-American honors, 2 first-place champions at Nationals

The MVCC Track & Field Team traveled to Hudson Valley to compete in the 2022 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships Thursday-Saturday, May 12-14. It was a successful weekend to conclude the 2022 Track season as the Hawks walked away with eight All-American honors and two National Championship wins.

Both the Men’s and Women’s 4 x 100 Relay Teams earned All-American status. The Men’s Relay Team of Khaleel Roberts, Ely Sidibe, Hayden Day, and Andy Hadasz placed third with a time of 43.76 seconds. The Women’s Relay Team also placed third, with Moenae Washington, Ivy Seabrooks, Arafa Djouma, and Sadia Abakar combining for a time of 52.24.

Sophomore Andy Hadasz of the Men’s Team placed first in both the 400-Meter Dash and the 200-Meter Dash, with season’s best times of 49.69 and 22.23, respectively, making him a three-time National Champion throughout his two years as an MVCC Hawk. Hadasz also is a five-time All-American Athlete.

Sophomore Ely Sidibe helped to lead the Men’s Track Team to a strong finish, placing sixth in the long jump with an impressive 20 feet 3 inches on his final jump of the day. Sidibe, also an All-American Soccer player for MVCC, will continue his athletics career at Canisius College on a soccer scholarship.

Freshman Josh Miller placed sixth overall in the Men’s Decathlon.

Freshman Arafa Djouma of the MVCC Women’s Team placed fifth in the 400-Meter Dash Finals, running a season’s best time of 1:03.79.

Freshman Sadia Abakar earned a trip to the Finals, placing eighth in the 100-Meter Dash while running a season’s best time of 13.44.
