MVCC Baseball

MVCC Baseball

MVCC Baseball completed their season this week with a difficult loss prior to the Region III tournament. The Hawks finished the year with a 12-12 record in region III play and with a record of 14-22 overall.

In a season where rescheduled games resulted in the Hawks having to battle a number of a number 1 pitchers, there were a number of bright spots both from a team stand point as well as individually in a number of areas.

Luis Reyes was an offensive standout for the Hawks all season long. The All-Conference shortstop/centerfielder broke a 27 year old stolen base record at MVCC. His lightning-like speed helped him steal 61 bases and incredibly was not thrown out a single time in 36 games this year. He finished ranked 2nd in the country in stolen bases. Luis finishes his career the All-Time Single Season and Career stolen base record holder at MVCC, surpassing two-time All-American Kevin Green.

From a pitching standpoint, Jacob Beer had a number of notable performances on the mound this year. The Hawks pitching ace finished the season with an impressive 4-3 record and a 4.68 earned run average.

Joe Dimasse also had a great year for MVCC baseball. The Sophomore catcher had 18 RBI's, and 21 runs on the season. His consistency didn't go unnoticed, as the leagues coaches voted him All Mountain Valley Conference 1st team.

With more then 300 career wins to his credit, Coach Warren will look to build on the positive momentum from the 2021 season and carry it into next year.
