MV Baseball Drops A Pair

Mohawk Valley's baseball team traveled to Queensbury this past weekend, to take on the Timberwolves of Adirondack Community College, in a two game series.

With the two teams meeting for the second time in less than a week, and the Hawks winning both games in Utica, the Timberwolves braced to make a run at revenge in Queensbury.

In Game 1 of the afternoon, SUNY Adirdonack got off to an electric start scoring 5 runs in the opening inning to get some seperation early. As the game went on the Hawks threw some jabs of their own. Colton Davis had two hits and two RBI's and Joe DiMasse continued his excellent play adding a hit, however Adirondack did not waiver. Due highly to an impressive pitching performance by the Timberwolves Cameron Darrow, which included 7 strikeouts, the Hawks were unable to generate a great deal of offense, and fell in game 1 by a score of 12-4.

In game 2 of the afternoon, the Hawks jumped out to an early 5-0 lead through 3 innings. Joe DiMasse had 2 hits, and David Breakell had 2 hits and scored 3 runs, as the surging Hawks rallied as a group to put some heavy pressure on the Timberwolves. Colton Davis and Kevin Del Vecchio both added a hit for the Hawks offense, but Adirondack had plans of their own for game 2.

Going into the 5th inning, the Timberwolves battled back and tied the score despite the efforts of the Hawks pitching and defense. However, the Hawks were ready to answer the call. With all of the momentum heading in the way of Adirondack, the Hawks found a way to rally and put a run on the board in the top of the 7th inning, to make the score 6-5 Hawks.

However, the Timberwolves scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning, making the final score 7-6 Adirondack, to earn a series split with MVCC. The losses drop MV to 7-5 in Region III and 10-10 overall. The Hawks will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon as they take on Utica JV.
