Hawks Split with Cannoneers

Hawks Split with Cannoneers

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, Mohawk Valley took the field in an important Region 3 matchup against the Cannoneers of Jefferson Community College.

In game 1, Brandon Breakell was elite on the mound the Hawks. He started the game with back to back strikeouts and ultimately struck out 6, to give Mohawk Valley a big time boost in route to a 3-1 game victory for Mohawk Valley. Patrick Linck had 2 hits for the Hawks, and Josh Duval, Joe DiMasse and Colton Davis all pitched in RBI's for the surging Hawks. Moving into game 2, the Hawks looked to continue on with quality pitching and consistent bats, as they knew that Jefferson would be ready for the challenge.

In game 2 of the afternoon, as anticipated, the atmosphere was electric and the bats were hot on both sides. David Breakell, Joe DiMasse, and Josh Duval all had multiple hits, and Colton Davis had 3 RBI's for the Hawks, and despite taking a 6-1 lead into the top of the 3rd inning, the game was far from over.

Consistent bats continued on both sides through 6, until the 7th inning when Jefferson made their move. The Cannoneers scored 8 runs in the top of the inning to take a commanding 13-8 lead. Despite the Hawks putting together 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th, Jefferson hung on and earned the series split with the victory.

The Hawks are back in action Sunday afternoon on the road at Jefferson, looking to clinch a berth in the region 3 playoffs!
