Track and Field Competes At Nationals

 This past week the MVCC Track & Field team traveled to Hudson Valley to compete in the NJCAA National Championship meet. After multiple rounds of qualifying heats, the top 8 in each event clashed for an opportunity to be crowned National Champions.  The Men's and Womens 4 x 100 relay teams both earned All-American Status this weekend! Khaleel Roberts, Ely Sidibe, Hayden Day and Andy Hadasz placed 3rd with a time of 43.76 seconds. The women's relay team saw Moenae Washington, Ivy Seabrooks, Arafa Djouma and Sadia Abakar combine for a time of 52.24 placing 3rd as well.  Continuing the women's success we saw Arafa Djouma place 5th in the 400 meter dash finals running a seasons best of 1:03.79. Sadia Abakar earned a trip to the finals placing 8th in the 100 meter dash while running a season's best time of 13.44.  On the Men's side Andy Hadasz placed 1st in the 400 meter dash with a season's best time of 49.69 while also placing 1st in the 200 meter with a season best of 22.23 seconds becoming a 2x national champion! Ely Sidibe placed 6th in the long jump with an impressive jump of 20 feet 3 inches on his final jump of the day. Josh Miller placed 6th overall in the Decathlon.  After a successful weekend to conclude the 2022 track season, Mohawk Valley walked away with eight All Americans honors and two national championship wins. The team has 2 sophomores who will be moving on, Ely Sidibe who was also an All-American soccer player, will continue his athletics at Canisius on a soccer scholarship. Ely was a dual sport athlete who helped lead the men's track team to a strong finish. Another sophomore who will be graduating is Andy Hadasz. Andy spent two years representing Mohawk Valley track team at the highest of standards. Overall, in Andys two years he became a 3x national champion and a 5x All American Athlete.  Our coaches and athletes would like give a huge thank you to the entire athletic department who make it possible for our athletes to train, study and compete at a high level. everyone's roll played a part in helping our athletes succeed on and off the track so once again thank you!
