Djouma wins Hamilton Invite, Hawks Finish 9th Overall

Zakaria Djouma continues to set the pace on the college cross country scene as he picked up his fifth win of the season as MVCC competed in the Hamilton College Invitational.

Djouma, running against some of the best NCAA Division III athletes, won the 8k race in 25:12.6 (5:04.3 mile pace), nearly 21 seconds faster than Jack Pierce, the second place finisher from Hamilton College. The Hawks finished 9th overall and first amongst two year schools. 

Freshman Alec Ambruso finished second for MVCC, crossing the line in 27:57.9.  Whitesboro's Tyler Beattie was third with a time of 28:46.3.  Freshman Nick Cecilia completed the course in 30:11.9 and was followed closely by sophomore Kevin Maas (30:18.1).

Freshman Mike Warchol posted a time of 31:33.4, Tyler Unislawski finished in 32:52.6.  and Alexander Buck registered a time of 36:17.8.

The Hawks return to racing on October 24th when they compete in the NJCAA Regional Championships at Finger Lakes Community College.
