Omar Mohamed Wins National Championship

Omar Mohamed Wins National Championship

To say Omar Mohamed has had an incredible year on the track would be an understatment. This season has been filled with epic performances by the talented 2nd year runner. His talents and work ethic have led him to a conference championship, a regional championship, and when he traveled to Alabama this past week he was in pursuit of the ultimate prize, a national championship.

After the long trip, it was time to finally race for the heralded athlete. As the race started against a very talented field, Omar was in 3rd place coming into the final mile of the race. At that point in time Coach Cull and Omar shared a brief conversation in passing, where Coach Cull challenged how bad he wanted it. At that moment, Omar made the decision to push himself and shift into another "gear." In an epic showing of determination and Hawk pride, Omar pushed himself across the finish line and won a National Championship with a time of 26:01.

"It has truly been a blessing to have the opportunity to coach this gentleman for the past two years. It's truly a coaches dream and there is no one more deserving of this victory than him. This goes to show that hard work and dedication truly pay off."- an emotional Coach Cull said after the National Championship win.
