Hawks back to winning ways after double-header sweep

The MVCC women's softball team continue to roll through the Region III competition as the Hawks defeated Fulton-Montgomery for the second time in the double-header held in Fulton.

The Hawks (5-3 Region III, 6-9-1 overall) opened the game with a six-run rally and then continued to drive in runs over the next four innings en route to a 22-7 victory. The Hawks drove in four runs in the second inning and then put the game on ice with a five-run rally and a seven-run rally.

At the plate for MVCC, third baseman Brittany Englert went 3-for-4 with two doubles to score four runs while driving in three others. Also, right fielder Brooke Pominville went 4-for-4 for five RBIs and one run while Mikelle Deck had three hits to score four runs and drive home three runs.

The Hawks compiled 21 hits as Brianna Georgia and Vanessa Jecko both had three hits, featuring a triple by Georgia.

Julianna Rose worked the mound for 3 2/3 innings to give up six runs on two hits and six walks while striking out three. Mikelle Deck went 1 1/3 innings to allow one run on two hits.
