Hawks prove to be steady scorers

The MVCC softball team wrapped up its swing through South Carolina with an 8-7 loss to Finger Lakes Community College in Myrtle Beach.

Despite the loss, the Hawks had a strong performance from the mound and they proved the were a steady scoring team. Going the 6 1/3 inning for the Hawks was Corrin Filhan to allow eight runs on 13 hits and five walks, but two runs were scored on fielding errors. She also struck out four batters.

At the plate, Filhan went 2-for-4 to earn an RBI while scoring twice herself. Brittany Englert was 3-for-4 to drive in three runs while Nicole Burline scored twice and had two hits.

The Hawks' offense was consistent with solo runs scored in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Finger Lakes scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
