The Hawks Travel to South Carolina for Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic

The MVCC softball team is set to play their first game on March 14th in South Carolina. The Hawks will participate at the Fastpitch Dream Classic in North Myrtle Beach.

The Hawks are led offensively by sophomore Brianna Grogg, who finished her last season batting .324. Also looking to make an impact are sophomores Rachael Yardley and Megan O'Connell.

In the circle, Alivia Neff returns looking to improve on her freshman stint. She averaged 9.21 strike outs per game and had a 2.41 batting average against. Hawks bring in nine new freshman looking to establish a foundation.

Constructing rosters in this day and age boils down to philosophy and program expectations, says head coach Brittnee Mexico. "We are versatile on the mound, and will look to harmonize the strengths of all four of our pitching staff. In the box, we are looking for our big hitters and our short game players to execute under pressure and bring it every game."

The Hawks will open the tournament on Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Central Maine (CP #3). Game 2 will kick-off at 7 p.m. against Louisburg College (Field 2). Hawks will follow up opening day with 4 games over the course of Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday first pitch is at 1pm vs Rhode Island CC (Field 5) and 3pm vs Sussex County CC (Field 5). On Thursday the Hawks kick off at 9am vs Delaware Tech (CP#2) and 1pm vs Prairie State College (CP#3).
