Hawks Power Past Panthers 

Game 1: Hawks 9, Panthers 1

In game 1, Freshman Faith Hicks continued her stellar play this year, blasting a powerful double to left center field that scored two runs, to kick things off for the Hawks. MV's offense was also highlighted Brianna Grogg's 3 runs and rbi which allowed the surging Hawks to get the seperation needed to put away TC3, by a final score of 9-1 in the opening game of the day. Defense and pitching were a huge key to victory for the MV as Sophomre Alivia Neff delivered a complete game performance which brings her to her 5th win of the year to this point. Neff's one hitter increases her strikeout count by 5, which has her sitting 3rd overall in the region in overall strikeouts. 

 

 

Game 2: Hawks 20, Panthers 1 

As game 2 began, it was evident that the Hawks were going to impose their will on the Panthers early and often. Freshman pitcher Samantha Mackey set the ton early, only allowing 3 hits and 1 walka in the 20-1 victory for Mohawk Valley. Freshman Faith Hicks had another impressive game for MV, going 2/2 with a double and a deep 3 run homerun that highlighted her performance Tuesday afternoon. In addition to Hicks, Freshman Kylei Cavelino also left her powerful mark on this game, going 3/3 with 3 singles and 2 runs of her own. Freshman Mackenzie Emmons added a single and a double in game 2, as the Hawks offense proved to be too much for TC3 as game ended in 5 innings, ultimately bringing Mohawk Valley's overall record to 7-8. 

Coach Mexico's Hawks will be back in action on Thursday, April 13th, as they take on Finger Lakes in a game slated for a 3:00 PM start.
