MV Softball Falls to Corning

MV Softball Falls to Corning

In a Saturday afternoon showdown, Mohawk Valley lost a very difficult series against Region 3 leader, Corning CC.

Coming into the series, the Red Barons had won 21 straight games and it was evident from the start that they had their sights set on earning both of the victories against the Hawks, on a beautiful afternoon in Western, New York.

In game 1, the Red Barons were impressive on both sides of the field and earned a 11-0 victory after 5 innings despite great effort by the Hawks.

However, in game 2, the Hawks showed some gritt as they battled to make it a 5-3 game through 2 innings. A powerful 3rd inning for Corning ulimately put the game out of reach for the Hawks, but they received some great contributions from Faith Hicks, Mackenzie Emmons and Kendall Darling, all who recorded hits against the Red Barons.

The Hawks will head to Columbia Greene on Tuesday afternoon for a double header slated for a 3:30 PM start.
