Softball Wraps Up Spring Training in Myrtle Beach

The Mohawk Valley Community College softball team trained, bonded and competed against notable competition during their annual spring training trip to North Myrtle Beach, SC. The MVCC softball team wrapped up The Spring Games beating Joliet CC and Moraine Valley and falling to Danville CC, Prairie State College, Madison College, CC OF Rhode Island and WVU Potomac State College.

MV completed The Spring Games with a 2-6 record. Hawks offense was led by sophomore Joely Welpe (Utica, NY) who finished the week with a .391 batting average, 4 runs and 7 RBI's. Behind her was sophomore Mackenzie Emmons (Binghamton, NY) batting .333. We tried so many different people in so many different positions," Mexico said. "The most encouraging thing, was the fact that we had so many different lineups out there, and although we didn't get the results we wanted, we learned the areas we need to improve and are optimistic as we begin our regular season quest." Mohawk Valley will remain on the road and face Broome Community College in a doubleheader on Monday, April 1st with game one beginning at 4 p.m. and game two scheduled for 6 p.m.
