The Mohawk Valley Community College softball team visited Finger Lakes Community College for a Region III doubleheader on the FLCC Softball Turf Thursday afternoon.
Paige Cook (Saratoga, NY), Carley Robinson (Whitesboro, NY), Ashley Fevang (East Islip, NY), and Joely Welpe (Utica, NY) combined for eight of MVCC's twelve hits. Cook went 2-for-4 with 2 runs, Robinson went 2-for-4 with 1 run, Fevang went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and Welpe went 2-for-3 with 2 runs and 1 RBI.
Angelina Hays (Oriskany, NY) earned her fifth win on the mound going all five innings. Hays pitched a tough game giving up zero runs and allowing only one hit and one walk while striking out 10.
Game 2: MVCC 7, FLCC 0:
The game was called in the top of the second inning due to injury, giving Mohawk Valley 7-0 forfeit victory in the nightcap.
MVCC (10-6, 8-0 conference) are set to host their season opener on Monday, April 15th for a doubleheader against Herkimer. Games will be played at Accelerate Sports Complex turf softball field (5241 Judd Road, Whitesboro, NY). Game one is set to begin at 3:30 PM.
