GAME 1: MVCC 15 | CCC 5
Game 1 of the afternoon was led off by the Hawks getting everything they could handle from the Red Barons as they opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two home runs. Corning Community College first got on the board when Brianna Greenlaw homered to left field, scoring three runs.
Corning Community College scored six runs on six hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Kaylee Beam induced Raegan Sudnikovich to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Greenlaw homered to left field, scoring three runs, and Maddie Gulich doubled, scoring two runs.
Mariana Jones earned the win for Corning Community College. The hurler surrendered seven hits and five runs over five innings, striking out two and walking two. Beam took the loss for MVCC Hawks. The right-handed pitcher went seven innings, surrendering 13 runs (12 earned) on 14 hits, striking out four and walking two.
Bella Kleban and Paige Cook each drove in two runs for MVCC Hawks. Sarah Zuchowski went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead MVCC Hawks in hits.
