The MVCC Lady Hawks defeated Tompkins Cortland CC 2-1 on Tuesday evening to advance in the NJCAA Region III Women's Soccer Tournament.

The Panthers struck first as Angela Martone scored on a header just 6:27 into the contest. Both teams had opportunities to score but the Hawks trailed 1-0 going into halftime.

Maryjo Fleck put MVCC on the board when she scored the equalizer with 18:30 remaining in the game.  Sydney Cook found the back of the net with the game winning goal, assisted by Jordan Batson, just 96 seconds later as the Hawks advance in the Region III tourney. 

MVCC will travel to Erie Community College Thursday. Game time is 3:30pm.
