Hawks split doubleheader

Hawks split doubleheader

From Donovan Stadium in Utica, NY:

MVCC split todays region 3 baseball doubleheader with SUNY Jefferson.

The Hawks dropped game one by a score of 5-0 as they managed only two hits, a double by Kevin Del Vecchio and single by Jack Morotti.  Hawks starting pitcher Alex Lewandowski had an impressive performance allowing only 2 hits and 1 earned run through 5 innings pitched.

MV would return the favor in game two. Odlanier Andrades singled, stole second and advanced to third on an error and then scored on a passed ball to break a scoreless 0-0 tie in the 5th inning. Two more runs would score for MVCC in the 5th on an RBI infield hit from Derek DeFazio to give the Hawks a 3-0 win.  The story of the game though was the lights out pitching of freshman right hander Hunter Harmon. In his home debut he pitched 6 innings allowing only 3 hits against 6 strikeouts.  Austin Stoquert entered the game in the 7th to get the save. The Hawks had two defensive gems by the middle infield duo of Kevin Del Vecchio and Odlanier Andrades to seal the win.
