Patrick Beilein named Head Coach for Men’s Basketball

Mohawk Valley Community College has named Patrick Beilein of Fayetteville, N.Y., as Head Coach for the Men’s Basketball Team, part of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III, Division III. His appointment will be ratified by the MVCC Board of Trustees at their August meeting.

In this role, Beilein will recruit and coach student-athletes for MVCC’s highly competitive intercollegiate basketball program, which made history last season by capturing its first-ever NJCAA National Championship. He also will help to guide players in achieving success both on the court and in the classroom.

“MVCC is thrilled to have Coach Beilein join the Hawk family,” said Dominic DiMaggio, MVCC’s Dean of Athletics. “Pat’s experience and expertise will enable MVCC Men’s Basketball to continue our championship success at the national level.”

Beilein, son of NCAA DI coaching legend John Beilein, has had extensive experience as both a player and a coach. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Coaching Education from West Virginia University, where he played in 128 games, scored 1,001 career points, and helped lead the Mountaineers to the Elite 8 and Sweet 16 in the 2005 and 2006 NCAA DI Men’s Basketball Tournaments.

Beilein’s coaching career includes leading Le Moyne College (2015-2019) to multiple NCAA DII tournament appearances, earning Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year honors in both 2017 and 2018. Under his leadership, Le Moyne secured top tournament seeds and achieved a 12-game win streak — the second longest in program history. He also served as Head Coach for the Syracuse Stallions, Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Baldwinsville High School, Player Development Coach for the Utah Jazz, and Head Coach at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
