Former Hawk Earns 100th Career MLB Win

Former MVCC Baseball pitcher Patrick Corbin (2008) recently earned his 100th career MLB victory as a starting pitcher for the Washington Nationals. Corbin's career started at Cicero North Syracuse High School then on to Mohawk Valley CC where he was a two-sport star for the Hawks Basketball and Baseball Teams. In his freshman year at MVCC he tallied 56 strikeouts in 45 innings pitched. After entertaining a couple Major League offers after his freshman year at MVCC Patrick decided to accept a scholarship to NJCAA Division 1 powerhouse Chipola College in Florida. From there he was drafted 80th overall in the Major League Baseball draft by the Anaheim Angels. Not long after being traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks he soon broke into the big leagues in 2012. He went on to spend the next six years with Arizona. The two-time MLB All Star was traded to the Washington Nationals for the 2019 season helping them to the World Series Championship. Patrick was the game 7 winning pitcher throwing three scoreless innings late in the game in the team's 6-2 victory over the Houston Astros. When asked about Patrick, Nationals manager Davey Martinez said, "He's done well for us, without him we don't win the world series." (MLB.com article below)

Long time MVCC Baseball Coach  Dave Warren had this to say,"Patrick is one of the best athletes that I have ever coached. More than that he is a truly great person which is a testament to his parents Dan and Patty. I was extremely blessed to be a small part of his incredible journey. "

Congratulations Patrick!
