After 17 straight road games the MVCC Hawks Baseball Team finally played a little closer to Utica at their temporary home hosted by Accelerate Sports in Whitesboro. MVCC will be playing 5 more doubleheaders at Accelerates brand new turf- multi-sport field while Donovan Stadium is under construction for a new turf of it's own which will be ready for play by the summer.
The young Hawks dropped game 1 by a score of 3-1. MVCC pitcher Sean Burdick was dazzling on the mound suffering the tough luck loss. Burdick pitched a complete game allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits with 7 strikeouts against zero walks.
Game two saw MVCC erase an early 7-1 deficit by plating 4 runs in both the 4th and 5th innings. Mason Beigh got the win in relief while shortstop Bradee Boughner came on in the 6th to earn the 2 inning save. Ryan Leos had the big hit of the game connecting on a two RBI single in the 5th to put the Hawks ahead for good.
MV will square off with Jefferson CC on Monday at Accelerate sports, game time is 2pm.
