Raiders trip up Hawks

Raiders trip up Hawks

The MVCC Baseball team, undermanned and beleaguered with injuries and sickness battled it out with a tough Fulton Montgomery CC squad on the diamond Thursday. The Hawks lost 5-3 in game one and 11-1 in game two. 15 of FM's 16 runs on the day came in a total of two innings which ultimately led to victory.

In game one, sickness forced Shortstop Bradee Boughner into an emergency start on the mound. Boughner was very efficient going 4-1/3 innings allowing 4 runs on 5 hits with two strikeouts. Franklyn Gutierrez pitched the final 1-2/3 innings holding the FMCC offense at bay.

MV battled as Derek DeFazio's 3 run homerun in the 6th brought the Hawks to within two runs but MV could not put up any more against Raiders Ace pitcher  Cai Cheng En. Cheng En went the distance allowing only 4 hits with 8 strikeouts.

MVCC's Jack Morotti continued his hot hitting of late with another two hit performance.

In game two the Raiders exploded for 11 runs in the 3rd inning to quickly erase a 1-0 MV lead and effectively put the game away. Leadoff man Ryan Leos had two hits for the Hawks in the defeat.

MVCC is slated to finish the season with home Doubleheaders against Fulton Montgomery on Sunday and Nationally ranked Hudson Valley CC on Tuesday at Accelerate Sports in Whitesboro.
