New Rochelle, NY – In a clash of national contenders, the #4-ranked Mohawk Valley Community College Men's Soccer team fell 4-1 to NJCAA Division I powerhouse Monroe University-New Rochelle on Saturday. The match featured high-level intensity and quality from both programs, as the Hawks tested themselves against one of the premier teams in the country.

MVCC opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Francesco Tagliavini finished off a well-timed pass from Davi Pena Moretzsohn, putting the Hawks ahead 1-0. However, Monroe responded with a trio of unanswered goals—Abel Ador leveled the score in the 34th minute with an unassisted effort before assisting Narito Rio in the 42nd to give the hosts a 2-1 lead at halftime.

Monroe extended their lead early in the second half with a goal from Braxton Richards in the 51st minute. MVCC continued to fight but couldn't find the finishing touch, and Monroe sealed the match in the final minute with an insurance goal from Reno Ishida.

Despite the loss, MVCC goalkeeper Anderson Silva had a strong showing, recording five saves against a relentless Monroe attack.

Head Coach Dom DiMaggio praised the level of competition and highlighted the experience as a key step forward:
"Monroe University is proven year after year to be one of the best NJCAA programs in the country. Tonight was a great game between two quality sides. Games like these will help prepare us for another run into postseason this year. We needed to be cleaner to get a result against a great team."
