#6 MVCC Women's Soccer Rolls Past North Country, 6-1, Behind Colton's Hat Trick

Utica, NY — The #6 nationally ranked Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) Women's Soccer team took on North Country Community College (NCCC) Wednesday evening, delivering a clinical performance in a 6-1 home win. Led by a dominant outing from Ryan Colton, who finished with three goals and two assists, the Hawks bounced back in a key Region III match up.

MVCC wasted little time finding the back of the net. In the 13th minute, sophomore forward Ryan Colton opened the scoring after receiving a well-placed through ball from Avery Bolton. Colton took a composed touch past a defender and slotted a low-driven shot past the keeper to put the Hawks up 1-0.

In the 36th minute, Colton struck again—this time from the penalty spot. She calmly converted to double MVCC's lead, taking control of the match's momentum.

Less than two minutes later, Colton continued her all-around dominance by turning provider. She fed a precise pass to Amanda Graziano, who made no mistake with a first-time finish to extend the lead to 3-0. The quick-fire goals left NCCC scrambling as MVCC entered halftime firmly in control.

The second half brought no respite for the home side, as MVCC picked up right where they left off. In the 52nd minute, Avery Bolton got on the scoresheet, finishing a sharp pass from Colton with a clinical strike to make it 4-0. Just over a minute later, the Hawks struck again. Sophomore midfielder Isabella Kleban netted her first goal of the day after receiving an assist from Arianna Petrelli. Colton completed her hat trick in the 64th minute, this time converting off a pass from Jenna Schaffner. The goal gave Colton her fifth point of the match and pushed MVCC's lead to 6-0.

The Saints were able to avoid the shutout in the 66th minute, when Emma Byl converted a penalty kick after a foul inside the MVCC box.

MVCC utilized a split-goalkeeping approach, with McKenna Coffey and Mackenzi Stevens combined for 6 saves throughout the match.

The Hawks return to action this Saturday when they head to SUNY Broome on Wednesday 9/24 for a 4:00PM kickoff.
