The Mohawk Valley Community College women's soccer team punched their ticket to the Region III Championship in dramatic fashion, edging out North Country Community College 3–2 in overtime on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hawks and Saints battled through a tightly contested semifinal, trading goals and momentum throughout the match before Arianna Petrelli delivered the golden goal in extra time to send Mohawk Valley through.

Mohawk Valley struck first in the 23rd minute when Ryan Colton found the back of the net off a feed from Isabella Kleban. North Country responded late in the first half as Talia Brammah, assisted by Ella Rejiba, leveled the score at 1–1 heading into halftime.

The Saints carried that momentum into the second half when Brammah struck again in the 56th minute, this time finishing a pass from Ruby Owen to give North Country a 2–1 advantage.

The Hawks, however, refused to back down. With time winding down, Colton stepped up once more, netting her second goal of the game in the 88th minute — again assisted by Kleban — to tie the match and force overtime.

In the extra frame, Mohawk Valley capitalized on their attacking pressure as Petrelli buried the game-winner just four minutes into overtime, securing the 3–2 victory. Kleban tallied her third assist of the day on the decisive play, capping an outstanding offensive performance.

Defensively, the Hawks split time between McKenna Coffey and Mackenzi Stevens, who combined for four saves in the win. North Country goalkeeper Hannah Gaddor was outstanding in defeat, recording 17 saves on 20 shots faced.

With the thrilling overtime win, the Hawks advance to the Region III Championship, where they will take on #1 seeded Onondaga Community College in the Region III North A Championship game. The game will be played at Genesee Community College on November 2nd at 1:00PM. The winner will punch their ticket to the final 8 of the National Tournament.
