#4 Mohawk Valley Knocks Off #1 Onondaga to Capture 6th Straight Region III North A District Championship

In a thrilling Region III North A District Final, the #4-seeded Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks delivered a commanding performance to upset top-seeded Onondaga Community College, earning a 3–0 victory on Sunday afternoon. The win not only secured the Hawks the regional crown but also solidified their place among the nation's elite programs heading into the NJCAA Final 8.

From the outset, Mohawk Valley demonstrated poise and determination, matching Onondaga's pace and controlling the midfield. The breakthrough came just before halftime, when Ryan Colton opened the scoring at the 43:42 mark. Colton's first goal, assisted by Amanda Graziano, gave the Hawks a crucial 1–0 advantage and set the tone for the remainder of the match.

Only moments into the second half, Mohawk Valley extended its lead. At 45:45, Isabella Kleban capitalized on a perfectly placed feed from Avery Bolton, slotting the ball past the Onondaga goalkeeper to make it 2–0.

The knockout blow came in the 70th minute when Colton struck again—this time unassisted—blasting home her second goal of the game to seal the 3–0 victory. Her dominant two-goal performance earned her Most Valuable Player honors for the tournament.

Following the match, the All-Tournament Team was announced, featuring four players from MVCC.

  • Ryan Colton – Mohawk Valley Community College (MVP)

  • Avery Bolton – Mohawk Valley Community College

  • Isabella Kleban – Mohawk Valley Community College

  • Arianna Petrelli – Mohawk Valley Community College

With the victory, Mohawk Valley advances to the NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer National Championships. The Selection Show will air tomorrow, Tuesday, November 4, on the NJCAA Network, where the final eight teams will be announced and seeded to compete for the national title.
