Mohawk Valley, NY – The Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) baseball team completed a challenging three-game road trip in Maryland, facing off against high-level NJCAA Division II opponents. The Hawks put forth a valiant effort but fell short against a formidable Hagerstown Community College squad, dropping a hard-fought contest 9-5.
MVCC entered the seventh inning with a one-run advantage, thanks to a strong outing from starting pitcher Brandon Rauth and a solid relief appearance from Mason Beigh. Rauth delivered four impressive innings, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out three. Beigh kept the Hawks in control with a strong short relief performance before Hagerstown broke through in the seventh inning, scoring four runs behind timely hitting to take the lead for good.
Offensively, Genero Clemente led the Hawks with two hits and an RBI. Defensively, MVCC showcased its prowess up the middle, as the duo of Bradee Boughner and Ryan Leos turned in outstanding plays to keep the game close.
Despite the loss, MVCC continues to demonstrate resilience and competitiveness against top-tier programs. The Hawks will now shift their focus to Region III play as they prepare to take on Cayuga Community College this Saturday at Accelerate Sports in Whitesboro.
