#10 Hawks Fall on Late 3, 68-65

The Mohawk Valley Men's Basketball team fell to Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday afternoon, by a score of 68-65, giving them their first loss of the season.

Playing in the last of a 4 game road trip, the Hawks got off to a strong start powered by 6'7 Forward Ike Sheppard and Freshman Point Guard Jamir Smith

The back and forth contest came down to the final minute when Isaiah Knight made a three to tie the game at 65 with 30 seconds remaining. On the next possession, the Vikings held the ball late into the shot clock and found an open shooter in the left corner to hit a dagger three with little time remaining. The Hawks were unable to get off a quality shot on the final possession of the game, and the Vikings held on for a win.

"We had 22 turnovers, missed 11 free throws and shot 26 % from 3. With all of that being said, this game came down to the final possession. We have talked a lot this season about being process driven and not results driven. That doesn't change in wins and losses. We will continue to improve every day and be ready on Tuesday night for our next opponent."

Ike Sheppard led the Hawks with 21 points and 16 rebounds, Isaiah Knight scored 18 points, and Jamir Smith added 10 points. Asa Beyah was impressive on the defensive end of the floor holding the Hudson Valley's leading scorer to just 8 points.
