Hawks Take Down FMCC, 101-85, Win 16th Straight

The Mohawk Valley Men's Basketball team won its 16th straight game on Friday evening with a 101-85 victory over Fulton Montgomery Community College

completing a regular season sweep over the Raiders. The Hawks were led by Jordan Drain who had 32 points in the victory. Freshman forward Ike Sheppard

made his presense felt in the contest scoring 25 points and pulling down 13 rebounds to help control the glass for the Hawks.

Sophomore guard Daniel Barrera continued his impressive play, scoring 12 points and playing a full 40 minutes of high level defense for Mohawk Valley

who out scored the Radiers by 13 points in the second half. From the point guard position Travis Gray again had another efficient and effective evening scoring

14 points as he stabalized the Hawks offense and found his teammates all evening long for open shots.

Furthermore, Lateef Johnson added 10 points, and Sophomore Guard Asa Beyah continued to make his strong case for defensive player of the year as he guarded

the opposing teams leading scorer effectively and dropped in 6 points of his own .

"Defensively we were able to get consecutive stops in some big moments, midway through the second half, and obviously Jordan put together some huge plays for us in some big moments,

Also,  Ike was special around the rim and really energized us with the way he rebounded the

basketball and his touch around the rim. I could really go down the line and talk about so many different guys, but thats how its been all year. Our belief in one another has been really important this year. We have really come together and I am excited to continue to progress as a ball club." -Coach Fuller said after the Hawks victory late Friday night.

The Hawks improve to 22-2 and will travel to Corning Community College tomorrow afternoon for a 2:00 PM with the Red Barons.
