#12 Hawks falls short against #9 Generals

In a battle of 2 nationally ranked teams, the Mohawk Valley Hawks men's basketball team took on the Herkimer Generals on Tuesday evening.

The Hawks got off to a quick start going on an 8-0 run to begin the game. Highlighted by a number of excellent plays by sophomore Tyruse Boock and freshman Isaiah Earl, Mohawk had their offense and defense firing on all cylinders early on. But the Generals had other plans on Tuesday evening. Despite quality performances by a number of Hawks, a 15-2 first half run ultimately pushed the scale in favor of the Generals, and Herkimer ultimately took the victory by a final score of 71-59.

Tyruse Boock and Lateef Johnson led the way for the Hawks with 17 points a piece.

"First off, this was such a great environment for a college basketball game last night in the Jorgenson Center. With that being said, we didn't play Mohawk Valley Basketball last night.  There were so many self inflicted wounds in this game by us, and we simply didn't control our controllables. The positive is, these are all correctable things. We have a locker room with a great group of guys that are continuing to grow each day, and dealing with some important early season injuries is only going to make us stronger as the season goes on. I love our group and am excited to get back after it this week as we prepare for the Timberwolves." Coach Fuller said post game.

The Hawks will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they take on Adirondack Community College at 3:00 PM.
