
UTICA, NY – The Mohawk Valley Hawks men's basketball team continued their season with a pair of commanding victories over the weekend, defeating Onondaga Community College and Jefferson Community College to improve to 19-0 on the season.
The action began on Saturday afternoon as the Hawks faced Onondaga CC in a 4:00 PM showdown. Mohawk Valley came out firing, building a commanding 60-30 lead by halftime. The second half saw much of the same, as the Hawks pushed the pace and utilized all 14 players in the contest. Jalen Bradberry led the way with 20 points in just 18 minutes of play, while Andre Pasha secured a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds in the same time frame. Ultimately, the Hawks cruised to a 116-56 victory over the Lazers.
On Sunday afternoon, Mohawk Valley returned to action against Jefferson Community College, looking to complete the weekend sweep. Once again, Bradberry led the charge with 22 points, while backcourt partner Jamir Smith added 18 points and 7 assists. Pasha continued his efficient play, recording another double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Off the bench, AJ Burns had a career-high performance, scoring 16 points on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting. James Collar (13 points) and Cam Pownall (10 points) also contributed to the balanced offensive attack, as the Hawks secured a 94-65 victory over the Cannoneers.
With the two victories, Mohawk Valley moves to 19-0 and will look to continue on with success Tuesday evening when they take on North Country Community College at 7:30 PM.
Coach Harley Fuller praised his team's effort and depth over the weekend, stating, "I was really proud of our connectivity this weekend. We had a number of guys come in and contribute on the floor in a number of different ways. North Country will be a competitive game against a really well-coached team on Tuesday evening, and we are looking forward to hopefully getting a great crowd of students and fans to come cheer on our guys."
