The #2 Mohawk Valley Hawks faced their first loss of the season in a hard-fought road contest against the #6 Herkimer College Generals on Tuesday. In a game that went down to the wire, the Hawks cut the Generals' lead to just three points with three minutes remaining. Despite a strong offensive effort from the Hawks, it was Herkimer's Jayson McGee who proved to be the difference-maker, pouring in 40 points to lead the Generals to a 77-66 victory.
Jalen Bradberry led the Hawks with 17 points, while Alex Barnhill added 12 points to keep the pressure on Herkimer throughout the game. Isaiah Earl contributed a near double-double performance with 8 points and 11 rebounds, but it was not enough to overcome the high-scoring efforts of McGee and the Generals.
The loss drops the Hawks to 20-1 on the season, but they remain in first place in NJCAA Region 3. Mohawk Valley will look to bounce back when they host Adirondack Community College (15-5) at home this Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
