Hawks clipped by powerhouse Erie Community College

The MVCC ice hockey team was unable to stop the national powerhouse Erie Community College Kats as the Hawks fell 11-3 in a Region III contest on Saturday at the Utica Auditorium.

The Kats rattled off five goals in both the first and third period to skate home with the win.

The Hawks were not to be shutdown completely as Jake Bialek snapped the shutout late in the first period off a double-pass by Brian Stoya and Brandan Carter.

MVCC regrouped in the second period to skate toe-to-toe with Erie and the defense stepped up its game to keep the guests at bay. The Hawks cut the Kats' lead when Kevin Kennedy scored off a pass from Connor Elsenbeck and Logan Fournier. Elsenbeck cut the lead even more just a minute later on an unassisted goal.
