Hockey suffers first defeat

The Mohawk Valley Community College hockey team suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of Broome Community College on Wednesday at the New Hartford Recreation Center by the score of 5-4.

The Hawks took the lead in the first period and held the 1-0 edge into the second period. But Broome came on strong with five unanswered goals which left the Hawks limping in the final period. But the Hawks regrouped to scored three goals of their own and cut the lead to 5-4. But they ran out of time as the Hornets took the win.

The Broome netminder turned away two last second shots off the MVCC sticks to preserve the win for the visiting Hornets.

The Hawks look to bounce back with home games against Erie CC this weekend.
