Men’s Lacrosse Falls at Herkimer

Men’s Lacrosse Falls at Herkimer

The Mohawk Valley Men's Lacrosse team lost to Herkimer College 22-4 Monday evening.  The Hawks got off to a slow start in the first half and battled through a few injuries early on.  They went into half trailing 12-0 before coming out at the start of the 3rd quarter scoring four goals in the quarter.  Ryan Mierek scored twice, Will Kelly added his first goal of the season, and Max Hunt scored as well.  After playing a great third quarter, the Hawks made a few mistakes late working to get the ball back and Herkimer capitalized on those mistakes in the fourth quarter.  Bright spots during the game were Austin Millington having a great day at the face-off X for the Hawks, and goalie Ryan Quinn coming up with 21 saves on the game.

"It was a night that we struggled in the beginning.  We can't dig ourselves a hole early and try to climb out of it.  We need to be better at the start of the game.  There is no time to dwell on it as we are in a stretch of six games in 12 days, with Tompkins-Cortland coming here on Wednesday evening.  We have to turn around and have a good practice Tuesday and be ready to go for a 6:00pm start time Wednesday evening, said Coach Evanoff."

The Hawks have their home opener and first of four straight home games Wednesday evening at 6:00pm against Tompkins-Cortland CC."
