The Mohawk Valley men's lacrosse team dropped their opening contest to the #4 Onondaga Lazers 30-0 on Wednesday. Onondaga jumped the Hawks quickly and they overpowered the team who was outside on a field for the first time this season. A bright spot for the Hawks was sophomore Jacob White, who had 23 saves in his debut in goal for Mohawk Valley. Pre-season Region III player to watch defenseman Jacob Posello caused five turnovers for the Hawks and last season's team MVP Derek Ferrone scooped up seven groundballs in the midfield hustling the entire game. "We knew we were playing one of the best teams in the country to start the season, and the weather has not really cooperated where we have been able to get outside, but I do believe that we got better during this game. We needed to be out on a field and see where we were at. We just aren't quite where we need to be yet at," said coach Nick Evanoff.
The Hawks will return to action this coming Wednesday at 6:00pm at Herkimer College. Livestreaming will be available at herkimergenerals.com/watch
