The Mohawk Valley men's lacrosse team was defeated by Herkimer College on Wednesday evening by a score of 28-1. The Hawks struggled to stay healthy and Herkimer capitalized on Mohawk Valley mistakes. The Generals left the Hawks with very little breathing room, as when the ball hit the ground, Herkimer had multiple guys on every loose ball and won the groundball battle.
The Hawks defense played solid and Jacob White had another decent performance in goal stopping 17 shots from Herkimer. The Hawks netted their first goal of the season as sophomore Jacob Posello scored man-up for Mohawk Valley in the fourth quarter.
"We are banged up and had a couple guys playing sick, but we played a very good Herkimer team and they beat us in every aspect of the game. We have to get better at face-offs because we are not getting very many possessions. We will take a few days to get healthy before we get back to work to get ready to play Mercer College next Saturday in our home opener," said Coach Evanoff.
The Hawks home opener on Saturday, March 22nd, will be livestreamed through Hudl.
