The #5 Nationally ranked Mohawk Valley Men's Soccer team traveled to Tompkins Cortland Community College on Wednesday evening for a Region III match up. The Hawks first got on the board just 9 minutes into the match when Douglas Barrera Yanes played a through ball to Alvaro Pineda who dribbled the Panther's goalkeeper and slotted the ball into the back of the net. The Hawks struck again when Cheick Kaba received a cross from Jesus Sanchez and blasted home the first-time opportunity to put the Hawks up 2-0. Cheick Kaba found the net just 3 minutes into the second half when Alvaro Pineda connected with Kaba who put home the opportunity. Alvaro Tejedor served a free kick that Kaba would flick past the Panther's goalkeeper to give Kaba a hat-trick on the day. Kaba would get his forth tally of the game when he took a shot but picked up his own rebound and flicked the first-time chance over his head to give the Hawks a 5-0 lead. Gustavo Paz Koch would score his first tally of the game with 6 minutes remaining to put the Hawks up 6-0. Jamie Toft would make one save for the Hawks to give him his second shutout in 3 games this season. Panther's goalkeeper Jeremy McGrath would finish the game with 9 saves.  

"The guys are starting to get a better understanding of each other on the field and we seem to be finding our form with each game. Cheick has been training extremely well and it showed today. I thought we did well dictating possession and not allowing TC3 to get into a flow of the game." , stated Head Coach Dominic DiMaggio 

The #5 Hawks return to action this weekend when they host two home contests. The first being against SUNY Jefferson on Saturday at 7:00PM at D'Alessandro Stadium in Utica, NY. The Hawks will take on Jamestown Community College on Sunday at 12:00PM at D'Alessandro Stadium.
