No. 4 Hawks come up short on the road

The No. 4 nationally ranked MVCC Men's Soccer team traveled to Fulton-Montgomery on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The Raiders first got on the board when Marvin Koceku picked up a missed clearance that put Koceku on a breakaway and tucked the ball home. The Hawks would respond when Alvaro Pineda crossed the ball into the box and Dan Beltran was there for the header to tie the game 1-1. The Raiders would strike again when Koceku would fire a shot that went through a Hawks defender's legs and found the back of the net. The Hawks would continue to create opportunities but Raider's goalkeeper Jose Atilio de Oliveria was there to keep the Hawks off the board. Oliveira would finish the game with 8 saves while Hawk's goalkeeper Jamie Toft would finish the game with 2 saves. The Hawks held a 15-6 shot advantage, 8-4 on goal, while also holding a 11-3 advantage in corner kicks.

"Today wasn't our day" stated Head Coach Dom DiMaggio. " I didn't think we played our best by any means but I think we played good enough to earn a result today. We made a bad mistake in the back early in the game that gave them the lead. We created some great chances in front of goal but couldn't seem to find the back of the net. I give Fulton-Montgomery credit for their efforts today."

The Hawks dropped to #9 in the most recent national poll after the loss. The Hawks will take on #3 Genesee Community College on Wednesday evening for a 7:00PM kickoff at D'Alessandro Stadium in Utica, NY.
