The MVCC Men’s Soccer team is advancing to the NJCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Final 4 after last night’s 4-0 victory over Rowan College-Gloucester in the Quarterfinal.

The Hawks first got on the board just 24 minutes into the game; Marco Paolo Saavedra served a ball into the box controlled by Jesus Sanchez and blasted it into the lower corner of the net. The Hawks would head into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The second half saw immediate impact as just one minute in, Lucas Beja outmaneuvered a defender and found Alvaro Pineda, who fired a shot that ricocheted off the post and into the net. Just one minute later, Pedro Trajano Henrique whipped in a corner kick met by Beja, extending the Hawks’ lead to 3-0 just 48 minutes into the game.

With a few minutes left in the match, Ismail Borow beat the last Roadrunner defender and was taken down in the penalty box for a penalty kick. Borow stepped up and successfully finished the attempt, giving him his first tally of the season. The Hawks finished the game with a 4-0 victory. Breno Guimares finished the game with four saves in the shutout.
