The #5 Nationally ranked Men's Soccer team opened the season with a 14-0 win over Erie Community College. The Hawks first got on the board when Jesus Sanchez served a ball to Fasaikou Jammeh who headed home the opportunity less than 5 minutes into the match. Gustavo Paz Koch would find his first tally of the season off another Sanchez assist 25 minutes into the game. As the game progressed, Lucas Beja would find the back of the net on an assist from Alonso Fernandez Guirao to put the Hawks up 3-0. Alvaro Pineda would score his first goal of the year with one minute left in the first half to put the Hawks up 4-0 heading into halftime.
Pineda notched his second tally of the game just two minutes into the second half on a pass from Gustavo Nunes. Nunes found the back of the net just two minutes later on a pass from Sam Janes. Pineda would then find James for his first tally of the season less than 10 minutes into the second half. Alonso Fernandez Guirao would find his tally of the season on a pass from Gustavo Paz Koch. Moments later, Pedro Trajano Henrique found Lucas Beja for his second tally of the match. Shortly there after, Beja would then find Gustavo Nunes for his first goal of the season. Brayan Morales-Agustin would find Ale Seho in the 74th minute for his first tally of the year. Agustin would earn his second assist when he found Alex Gimenez Montealegre who would slide home the opportunity past the Erie goalkeeper. Ervin Ruznic would also find the back of the net on a pass from Sam James. Felipe Machado would find Agustin for the finally tally of the match.
MVCC goalkeepers Breno Guimaraes and Jalal Hachadi combined for 1 save and complete the shutout for the Hawks. Erie goalkeeper Abdullah Aljashaami finished with 17 saves. The Hawks finished the game with a 47-1 advantage in shots and a 11-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Hawks return to action on Saturday, September 9th when they travel to Jamestown CC for a 3:00PM kickoff.
