#5 Hawks continue their winning ways over Fulton Montgomery

The #5 MVCC Men's soccer team battled with Fulton Montgomery, eventually earning a 2-1 win in the game. The Hawks first got on the board in the second half when Lucas Beja whipped in a corner kick that Gustavo Nunes flicked on into a FMCC defender which then found the back of the net. The Raiders would tie the game up just 2 minutes later when they served a ball into the box that found it's way into the back of the net. Andrew Chumukh would be the hero in the 84th minute when he fired a shot from 30+ yards out that found the upper corner of the net. The Hawks would hold the Raiders scoreless for the remainder of the game to give them the 2-1 victory.

Breno Guimaraes would finish the game with 2 saves while the FMCC goalkeeper would finish the game with 9 saves.

"I thought FM stuck to their game plan and made it difficult on us to get into a good rhythm of play" stated Head Coach Dom DiMaggio. "Their goalkeeper made some great saves today to keep things close and we gave up an uncharacteristic goal. Andrew came up clutch today and had one of the better goals I've seen in quite some time. We got the 3 points we needed while not playing our best soccer."

The Hawks return to action on Thursday, September 28th when they travel to Monroe Community College in Rochester for a 4:00PM kickoff. Monroe is currently ranked #20 in NJCAA Division 1 while the Hawks are currently ranked #5 in NJCAA Division 3. Monroe and MVCC both enter Thursday's contest undefeated on the season.
