#5 Hawks soar past Thunderwolves

The #5 nationally ranked Mohawk Valley Community College Men's Soccer team hosted the Thunderwolves of Niagara Community College on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks first got on the board in the 35th minute when Andrew Chumkh would rifle home an attempt that bounced out to him off a corner kick. Gustavo Nunes would continue his scoring ways just 8 minutes later when Pedro Trajano Henrique would find Nunes who curled the shot in the net from 25 yards out. Henrique would then find Lucas Beja in the second half and Beja would fire home the shot from outside the penalty box to put the Hawks up 3-0. Jesus Sanchez would get fouled in the box just 10 minutes later which resulted in an MVCC penalty kick. Marco Paolo Saavedra would step up the line and slot home the PK attempt for his first goal of the season. Saavedra was playing his first match of the season after coming off an injury from preseason.

Malone Vanstone would earn the shutout for the Hawks while the Niagara goalkeeper would finish the game with 11 saves.

The #5 Hawks return to action on Wednesday, October 4th when they host #7 nationally ranked Onondaga Community College at 6:30PM at D'Alessandro Stadium.
