#5 Hawks continue their winning ways over #7 Lazers

The #5 nationally ranked MVCC Men's Soccer team took on the #7 nationally ranked Onondaga Lazers on Wednesday evening. The Hawks struck first just 12 minutes into the game when Alvaro Pineda would play Lucas Beja who curled a shot from outside the 18-yard box into the upper corner of the goal. The Hawks would strike again in the 21st minute when Alonso Fernandez Guiaro would play a ball in behind to Lucas Beja. Beja would muscle off a defender and beat the Onondaga goalkeeper to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead. The Lazers would strike back in the 30th minute when they served a ball into the box and headed it into the back of the net. The game would remain scoreless and the Hawks would close the game out to earn the win. Jaime Mata would earn his second straight win in goal while doing very well coming off his line to claim crosses and services.

"Tonight was a great battle by both teams. I thought we did a good job finishing early chances but probably should've done a better job in some moments later in the game to put them away. Lucas stepped up tonight and had some great goals, especially without having Gustavo Nunes on the field for the majority of the game." stated head coach Dominic DiMaggio

The #5 Hawks will return to action on Friday night when they host Hudson Valley Community College at D'Alessandro Stadium for a 6:30PM kickoff.
